Step into the magical world of Digital 2D Animation!

In this hands-on animation camp, youth students will embark on a creative journey, honing their animation skills to bring characters and imaginative worlds to life. Students will learn key techniques in digital animation, including timing, spacing, character design and the art of squash and stretch and more!

They’ll practice these techniques to transform their ideas into animated stories, exploring the workflow of real animation studios. As a grand finale, students will compile a highlights reel of all their animations, complete with music or voiceover, showcasing their work created throughout the week.

SCREENING SHOWCASE: All animations will debut at an end-of-camp screening with complimentary food & drink for family & friends. We’ll also feature all work completed in 2025 Summer Camp at an official showcase at Alamo Drafthouse in August 2025.

No prior animation experience is necessary, but familiarity with basic computer skills is essential, as this is a tech art experience. We highly recommend tailoring this camp towards individuals with an interest in drawing, as working with a Wacom tablet and stylus tends to be more accessible for those who engage in drawing for enjoyment.

WHATS INCLUDE IN THE CAMP?

  • Camp hours: 10:00 am - 5:00 pm, including a 30-minute onsite lunch break and additional breaks, totaling 35 hours per week.

  • All-inclusive: Camp tuition covers equipment and software access; no additional fees.

  • Camp perks: Complimentary summer camp tee, tote bag, notebook, pen, and sticker pack.

  • Showcase: End-of-camp showcase for participants with cater food (Friday at 4pm of each camp)

  • Official Showcase: 2 complimentary tickets per family to the end-of-summer official showcase in August at Alamo Drafthouse (additional tickets available for purchase, limited for fairness).

  • A courtesy reminder email containing the location and reiterated information will be sent to all registered campers five business days before the camp commences. As previously mentioned, no additional supplies are needed.

We do not provide onsite food. Campers are expected to their own bring lunch, snack, and a reusable water bottle. We have a filtered clean water machine available, microwave, fridge, and freezer on campus.

WHEN REGISTERING

After you complete the initial intake form when clicking “register” on the camp(s) of your choice, you must complete the check-out process of your registration at your cart. You must complete this process and pay the camp tuition/payment plan fee to be fully registered.

CAN I PAY IN INSTALLMENTS?

Absolutely! We offer 3-month flex plans. Secure your spot with a 50% deposit, and split the remaining balance into two equal monthly payments. To request a payment plan, please contact classes@austinfilmschool.org).
