Introducing the Artist Access Program: A Work/Trade Initiative
Our Work/Trade program offers creative individuals the chance to exchange their time and skills for access to our studios, gear, and resources.
Start Date: September 2025
Application Period: July 30-August 15, 2025
Are you a passionate, community-minded individual eager to break into the world of film, media, or the arts?
The Artist Access Program is a unique work/trade opportunity designed to provide hands-on job training, real-world skills, and resume-building experience—all while giving you the tools, education, and studio access you need to grow as an artist.
As part of this workforce development program, selected participants will receive:
1-Year Cinemaker Studio Membership – Unlimited access to our professional studios, equipment, and creative community
$2,000 Education Fund – Use this credit toward any of our classes, workshops, or programs to deepen your skills and knowledge
Professional Job Training On-Site – Gain real-world experience working in our studio and classroom as coordinators, learning arts administration, studio operations, event management, customer service, and technical workflows
Resume Credentials & References – Build your CV with meaningful, verifiable experience to help launch your career in the creative industries
New Connections – Meet like-minded creatives, expand your network, and become part of a supportive artistic community
How it Works:
• Participants contribute up to 40 hours per month (averaging ~10 hours per week) over a 6-month period.
• You receive the full benefits listed above, including year-long membership and education funds.
• This program is limited to 6 participants per application cycle to ensure personalized training and support.
We’re seeking reliable, enthusiastic individuals—whether you’re great with people, tech-savvy, organized, or just eager to learn. If you’re excited to support a space that uplifts local artists and fosters creativity, we’d love to hear from you.
This is not an internship, but a robust work/trade program designed to provide valuable workforce development experience while directly investing in your artistic journey.
Why It Matters
The Artist Access Program was designed to break down the barriers that often keep emerging creatives from accessing professional tools, education, and industry connections. By providing hands-on training on-site in our studios and classrooms as coordinators, the program gives local residents practical experience, strengthens resumes, and builds the real-world skills essential for sustainable careers in the creative sector. It also enriches our community by ensuring that diverse voices and talents have the resources and support they need to thrive—keeping our city’s artistic ecosystem vibrant, inclusive, and innovative.
Beyond what this program offers participants individually, your involvement directly supports a long-standing nonprofit dedicated to empowering artists of all mediums by providing the education, space, and tools they need to grow their careers and expand their creative work.

teaching positions @ austin school of film
Austin School of Film is accepting resumes for teaching artists interested in leading adult courses and workshops in 2026!
We’re looking for film educators who are not only actively working in their field—i.e. screenwriters teaching screenwriting, editors teaching editing—but who also have proven experience in teaching.
While deep knowledge of your craft is essential, we firmly believe that the ability to teach is its own skill. Our ideal educators understand they’ll be working primarily with beginners who are just stepping into the world of film and media—and they value being part of a supportive, community-centered film school that emphasizes access, patience, and mentorship.
Please email any resumes to classes@austinfilmschool.org with a brief note on why you’d like to teach with us!
